Delhi Crime Season 2 review – Best Indian Crime Thriller of all time

Delhi Crime Season 2 review- Another fight, another crime.

The popular Netflix series “Delhi Crime” is one of the first Indian thrillers which liberated the Ott platforms for Indians. Evidently, it is a crime thriller which was very successful not only in India but also on an international level.

This crime drama is directed by Richie Mehta, produced by Golden Karaven, Ivanhoe Productions, Film Karavan and Poor Man’s Productions, released in 2019. It is based on the true event of “the Delhi gang rape in 2012”

By the end of the first season, the audience was certain that season 2 was coming soon. However, due to the global pandemic, the release of the season was also unknown. The first season had a remarkable footprint which was difficult to compete with.  The fans are even more excited because of the high standard set by the first season of this thriller show.

If you haven’t watched season 1 yet, I would suggest watching it before going ahead with the second season. Even though the plot of Delhi Crime Season 2 is poles apart from the previous one, the cast and crew remain the same. Hence, to know the characters better, one must start from the beginning. Delhi Crime Season 1 summary:

Season 1 talks about a gang rape that happened in 2012 in Delhi and Vartika Chaturvedi with her team of best officers go the depth of it. They find the victim along with series of horrifying events unfolding in front of them. The culprit was sentenced, the laws were changed after the massive protest held by the civilians in demand for justice for the victims. However, it ended with portraying the sad truth of our society being unsafe for women and life of the victim changed forever. These events also made Vartika’s daughter move abroad.

Cast:

•  The lead role is played by Shefali Shah as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi who is assigned to handle the situation after the horrifying incident.
• Rajesh Tailang plays the character of Inspector Bhupendra Singh and Rasika Dugal plays the character of IPS Neeti Singh who act as strong supporting roles to Shefali’s character.
• Yashaswini Dayama plays the role of Vartika’s daughter and has been shown as a part of Vartika’s important personal life moments.
•  Adil Hussain is another main character casted in the show as the CP-Kumar Vijay
• The main cast of season 2 remains the same with some additional changes in victims, crimes and criminals.

Overview of Delhi Crime Season 2:

This time the plot is redirected towards a local issue of senior citizen assassination executed by a criminal gang.

They have a consistent pattern of killing and only target rich old people who are part of high-class society.

The criminals leave terrible marks of their crime yet no evidence for the police to track them.

Vartika Chaturvedi is again responsible for finding the prime suspects of these murders.

She is joined by her team who have their own struggles in their personal life, which is ofte3n shown in some scenes.

This season is comparatively shorter than the previous one. However, the entertainment part is appropriately fulfilled. By the end of the series, you’ll get a sneak peak into the mind of the criminal and their psychological conduct will surely sock you.

Delhi Crime Season 2 not only portrays the criminal mindset and their brutality but also represents some major social issues of our country, like corruption, caste racism etc. However, this season does not tend to move the audience and emphasize the victims as much as the first season. One of the reasons could be because the issues shown in the first season were better known and closer to the audience. Critics aside, the episodes still contain thrillers, suspense, and action to be a perfect crime thriller show.
